Introducing…ACES!

The Tyson K-12 marketing team is proud to announce the new Advisory Council of Experts for Schools (ACES). ACES consists of six school brokers from key states who were chosen to participate based on their expertise of the K-12 market.

ACES gathers several times a year to discuss the impact of major trends on school foodservice. They provide Tyson’s K-12 sales and marketing teams with valuable feedback on current and proposed programs as well as key insights of the K-12 market.

The ACES are:

  • Travis Bills, CDC Food Brokers, Willow Grove, PA
  • Dan Hartle, Food Sales East, Nashville, TN
  • Steve Hume, The Lemmons Company, Addison, TX
  • Diana McCarthy, Venture Sales Group, Buffalo, NY
  • Nicole Nicoloff, Mascari Sales & Marketing, Farmington Hills, MI
  • Maribeth Wasmund, Food Sales West, Livermore, CA

Tyson breakfast out in the field

Tyson implemented a 2 week field test of the new Tyson Power Upz™ Individually Wrapped Chicken Sausage Biscuit at selected grammar, middle and high schools. Foodservice directors were allowed to prepare and serve the chicken biscuit to students to determine the potential acceptance of the new product.

Overall results were very positive. The individually wrapped packaging was popular with students, and FSDs felt it would help with speed, convenience, and food safety. Students at every grade level perceived the product to be a good, hot, protein-based breakfast option.

“The prep time fits our tight mornings schedule and the case packing is really convenient too,” said one FSD. “It’s easy to count out the numbers we need because of how the case is laid out, knowing that each case is exactly 100 sandwiches.”
